Flatt, Bill (1993). Building a Healthy Family. Nashville, TN:  Christian Communications. This excellent resource presents eighteen principles essential to a healthy family. Dr. Bill Flatt, Counseling Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist, uses a practical Christian perspective to encourage the readers to implement these principles to strengthen and mature each family unit. The book is written in an informal style and contains a great deal of wisdom reflective of Dr. Flatt’s years of experience in clinical practice and educational activities.

Harley, Willard F., Jr. (2001). His Needs, Her Needs:  Building an Affair-Proof Marriage. Grand Rapids, MI:  Fleming H. Revell. (Affairs usually occur because a person’s needs are not being met sufficiently within the marriage. This book explores ways to identify, communicate, and negotiate the needs which are important to each spouse.)
